| Frank C. Hodges, M.D., began an active orthopedic
practice in 1934. He was the first orthopedic surgeon in Texas,
west of Dallas, to be certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic
Surgery. J.M. Hooks, M.D., joined Dr. Hodges in the practice of
Orthopedic Surgery in 1948. The two physicians founded Hodges
and Hooks Orthopedic Clinic and built their own clinic in 1949.
Dr. Hooks' practice ended in 1969 with his death in an automobile
accident.
In 1956, Ralph Donnell, M.D. joined the clinic and maintained an active practice until his retirement in 1982. F. Carlton Hodges, M.D., son of Frank Hodges, moved to Abilene in 1962 to practice with Dr. Hooks and Donnell. The group incorporated, adopting the name of Orthopedic Associates. In 1973 J. Price Brock, M.D. joined the practice after serving as a Navy physician in Vietnam. In 1984 Orthopedic Associates moved into their newly constructed clinic at 1701 Pine Street. In 1987 Robert L. Dickey, M.D. joined the practice after completing his arthroscopy/sports medicine fellowship at Baylor College of medicine in Houston. In 2001 Paul W. McDonough, M.D. joined the practice after completing his spinal surgery fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical Center. In 2003 Mark Santman, M.D. joined the practice after having been in private practice in Tennesee. |
